Diedrich Coffee adalah sebuah perusahaan kopi yang berpusat di Irvine, CA. Kedai kopi pertamanya di Orange County, CA dibuka tahun 1983. Perusahaan ini memiliki kedai-kedai Gloria Jean's Coffees di sejumlah mal Amerika Serikat. Di Oregon, perusahaan ini sebelumnya mengoperasikan Coffee People sampai hampir setiap kedainya dibeli dan ditutup atau diubah menjadi kedai Starbucks. Diedrich mempertahankan kepemilikan kedai Coffee People di Bandar Udara Internasional Portland.[1]

Sejarah

Sejarah perusahaan ini berawal ketika Charlotte Diedrich mewarisi perkebunan kopi di Costa Rica tahun 1916. Putranya, Carl Diedrich begabung dengan bisnis ini tahun 1946 dan membeli perkebunan kopi di Antigua, Guatemala tahun 1966. Kedai kopi pertamanya yang berupa pemanggangan kopi dibuka di Newport Beach tahun 1972.

Diedrich Coffee, kedai kopi tetangganya, didirikan oleh Martin Diedrich tahun 1983. Ia mengambil alih operasi bisnis eceran, pemanggangan, dan impor dari Carl yang pensiun. Pada September 1996, Diedrich Coffee menjadi perusahaan terbuka.

Perusahaan ini membeli Coffee People, sebuah perusahaan yang memiliki Gloria Jean's Coffees, pada bulan Juli 1999.[2][3] Bulan Juni 2004, Martin Diedrich mengundurkan diri dari jabatannya di Diedrich Coffee.

Bulan September 2006, Diedrich Coffee menyatakan rencananya menutup kedai-kedai eceran milik perusahaan, 40 di antaranya dijual ke Starbucks dan dibuka kembali dengan merek Starbucks. Kedai milik waralaba tidak berubah. Perusahaan ini terus beroperasi sebagai pemanggang dan penjual biji kopi.[4] Namun, sejumlah kedai Diedrich yang dimiliki dan dioperasikan secara independen masih buka di California dan Texas. Tanggal 3 November 2009, Peet's Coffee asal California menyatakan akan membeli Diedrich.[5]

Tanggal 8 Desember 2009, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. asal Vermont menerima tawaran Peet's Coffee dan setuju membeli Diedrich dengan nilai $290 juta.[6]
