Epirus Utara

Epirus Utara (bahasa Yunani: Βόρειος Ήπειρος, Vorios Ipiros, bahasa Albania: Epiri i Veriut) adalah wilayah Epirus di Balkan barat yang menjadi bagian dari Albania. Istilah ini kebanyakan digunakan oleh orang-orang Yunani dan dikaitkan dengan populasi Yunani yang bermukim di wilayah tersebut.^[1] Istilah ini juga mengandung konotasi klaim politik bahwa wilayah tersebut seharusnya menjadi bagian dari Yunani, dan pada tahun 1914 pernah terjadi upaya pendirian Republik Otonom Epirus Utara^[2] oleh orang-orang Yunani lokal untuk menentang penggabungan wilayah tersebut dengan Albania.^[3] Penggunaan istilah ini umumnya ditentang oleh orang-orang Albania karena keterkaitannya dengan gagasan-gagasan separatis.

Istilah ini pertama kali digunakan dalam korespondensi resmi Yunani pada tahun 1886 untuk mendeskripsikan bagian utara Vilayet Janina.^[4] "Epirus Utara" mulai digunakan oleh orang-orang Yunani pada tahun 1913 setelah pendirian negara Albania yang mencakup wilayah ini.^[5]
