Ivan Le Lorraine Albright (20 Februari 1897 – 18 November 1983) adalah seorang pelukis, pematung, dan pembuat cetakan Amerika yang paling terkenal karena potret diri, studi karakter, dan still lifes.[1] Karena teknik dan materi pelajarannya yang gelap, ia sering dikategorikan di antara realisme sihir dan kadang-kadang disebut sebagai "penguasa yang mengerikan".[2]

Dari keluarga seniman dan pengrajin, Albright muncul di kancah seni Amerika pada 1930-an dan membangun reputasi sebagai salah satu Realis Amerika yang paling misterius.[3] Ia mengagetkan, membuat kagum, dan merisaukan masyarakat yang melihatnya melalui penekanannya pada kerapuhan tubuh, daging, dan kondisi manusia dengan karya-karyanya seperti The Lineman (1928), That Which I Should Have Done I Did Not Do (The Door) (1931), dan Lukisan Dorian Gray (1943). Karyanya untuk menonjolkan detail dan tekstur setiap permukaan sering kali mengharuskannya menghabiskan waktu bertahun-tahun atau puluhan tahun untuk satu lukisan.[3]

Sementara karya-karya Albright dapat ditemukan di museum-museum di seluruh Amerika Serikat, gudang terpenting dari karyanya ada di Institut Seni Chicago.[4]
