Keluaran 8 (disingkat Kel 8) adalah bagian dari Kitab Keluaran dalam Alkitab Ibrani dan Perjanjian Lama di Alkitab Kristen. Termasuk dalam kumpulan kitab Taurat yang disusun oleh Musa.[1][2]

  • Kisah yang dicatat di pasal ini terjadi beberapa waktu sebelum bangsa Israel meninggalkan tanah Mesir.[3] (~1447 SM)

Ayat 3

"Katak-katak akan mengeriap dalam sungai Nil, lalu naik dan masuk ke dalam istanamu dan kamar tidurmu, ya sampai ke dalam tempat tidurmu, ke dalam rumah pegawai-pegawaimu, dan rakyatmu, bahkan ke dalam pembakaran rotimu serta ke dalam tempat adonanmu."[4]

Di Mesir kuno, katak dianggap keramat dan melambangkan dewi Heket (Hekt; Heqet), yaitu dewi kesuburan serta membantu kelahiran anak (ironi dari "kamar tidur" dan "tempat tidur" di ayat ini).[5] Tuhan, melalui tulah ini, sedang menyerang dewa-dewa Mesir untuk menunjukkan bahwa kuasa-Nya jauh lebih unggul daripada kekuatan-kekuatan gaib Mesir.[6]

Para ahli itupun membuat yang demikian juga dengan ilmu-ilmu mantranya untuk mengadakan nyamuk-nyamuk, tetapi mereka tidak dapat. Demikianlah nyamuk-nyamuk itu hinggap pada manusia dan pada binatang.[7]

Mulai tulah ketiga, para ahli Mesir tidak dapat lagi meniru "tangan Tuhan". Dengan mengatakan hal ini, para ahli sihir Mesir mengakui bahwa kuasa Allah jauh melebihi kekuatan mereka.[8]
