Prabodh Chandra Dey (1 Mei 1919 − 24 Oktober 2013), yang dikenal dengan nama panggungnya Manna Dey, adalah seorang penyanyi playback India. Ia melakukan debut dalam film Tamanna pada 1942, dan merekam lebih dari 4000 lagu dari 1942 sampai 2013. Pemerintah India memberikannya penghargaan Padma Shri pada 1971, Padma Bhushan pada 2005 dan Penghargaan Dadasaheb Phalke pada 2007.

Dey menyanyi dalam seluruh bahasa utama di India, biasanya dalam bahasa Hindi dan Bengali. Masa puncaknya dalam menyanyi playback Hindi adalah dari 1953 sampai 1976.

Kehidupan awal

Dey lahir dari pasangan Mahamaya dan Purna Chandra Dey pada 1 Mei 1919 di Kolkata. Selain orangtuanya, paman bungsu pihak ayahnya, Sangeetacharya Krishna Chandra Dey sangat menginspirasi dan mempengaruhinya.[2] Ia meraih pendidikan awalnya di Indu Babur Pathshala, sebuah sekolah pra-dasar kecil. Ia memulai acara-acara panggung di sekolah sejak 1929. Ia masuk Scottish Church Collegiate School dan Scottish Church College.[3][4] Ia ikut serta dalam acara-acara olahraga seperti bergulat dan bertinju pada masa-masa sekolahnya, dengan mendapatkan pelatihan dari Gobar Guha.[5] Ia lulus dari Kolese Vidyasagar.[2]
