Pesisir

Pesisir (bahasa Inggris: coast) adalah suatu wilayah peralihan antara daratan dan lautan^[1] yang merupakan daerah pertemuan antara darat dan laut; ke arah darat meliputi bagian daratan, baik kering maupun terendam air, yang masih dipengaruhi sifat-sifat laut seperti pasang surut, angin laut, dan perembesan air asin; sedangkan ke arah laut meliputi bagian laut yang masih dipengaruhi oleh proses-proses alami yang terjadi di darat seperti sedimentasi dan aliran air tawar, maupun yang disebabkan oleh kegiatan manusia di darat seperti penggundulan hutan dan pencemaran.

Selanjutnya perbedaan pesisir dan pantai adalah Pesisir memiliki panjang yang sebanding dengan pantai, namun lebarnya bervariasi tergantung jenis pantainya. Pada pantai yang landai, lebar pesisir bisa mencapai puluhan meter. Saat air surut, pesisir terlihat membentang sepanjang pantai dan menampilkan hamparan pasir yang indah, cocok dijadikan destinasi wisata. Di pantai yang curam, lebar pesisir sangat sempit karena saat air pasang, air laut tertahan oleh dinding pantai, sehingga tidak bisa mengalir lebih jauh ke daratan.^[2]
