Rumah Balai Batak Toba

Rumah Balai Batak Toba adalah rumah adat dari daerah Sumatera Utara.[1] Rumah ini terbagi atas dua bagian yaitu Jabu Parsakitan dan Jabu Bolon.[1] Jabu parsaktian adalah tempat penyimpanan barang.[1] tempat ini juga terkadang dipakai sebagai tempat untuk pembicaraan terkait dengan hal-hal adat.[1]

Jabu Bolon

Jabu bolon adalah rumah keluarga besar.[1] Rumah ini tidak memiliki sekat atau kamar sehingga keluarga tinggal dan tidur bersama.[1] Rumah Balai Batak Toba juga dikenal sebagai Rumah Bolon.[2] Bagi masyarakat Suku Batak, rumah ini tampak seperti seekor kerbau yang sedang berdiri.[2] Pembangunan rumah adat suku Batak ini dilakukan secara gotong royong oleh masyarakat Batak.[2] Rumah ini berbentuk seperti rumah panggung yang disangga oleh beberapa tiang penyangga.[2] Tiang penyangga rumah biasanya terbuat dari kayu.[2] Rumah Balai Batak Toba mempunyai bahan dasar dari kayu.[2] Menurut kepercayaan masyarakat Batak, rumah ini terbagi ke dalam tiga bagian yang mencerminkan dunia atau dimensi yang berbeda-beda.[2] Bagian pertama yaitu atap rumah yang diyakini mencerminkan dunia para dewa.[2] Bagian kedua yaitu lantai rumah yang diyakini mencerminkan dunia manusia.[2] Bagian yang ketiga adalah bagian bawah rumah atau kolong rumah yang mencerminkan dunia kematian.[2]
