O río Würm (en bavaro Wiam) ye un río alemán, afluent d'o río Amper, que tien o suyo naixedero en o Laco de Starnberg (Bavera, Alemanya), y vierte as suyas auguas en o Río Amper(Bavera, Alemanya), dimpués d'un recorrito de 39,8 km de largaria, en trescruzando localidaz destacatas en Alemanya, como Starnberg, Múnich u Dachau.[1]

As suyas auguas drenan una cuenca hidrolochica con una superficie de 428,96 km² a traviés d'un cabal meyano de 4,74 m³/s.

Tot y que o Würm ye un río chicot, ye muit conoixiu ya que da o suyo nombre a la glaciación Würm.

Toponimía

O nombre d'o río Würm s'atestigua por primera vegada como que Uuirma en l'anyo 772 y mas tardi como que Wirmiseo(910), Vuirama (956/957), Wirmina (1056), Wirm (1310) y finalment en 1674 como que Würm.[2] Se deriva tradicionalment d'una expresión celta wirmina ("o que fluye rapidament"). Manimenos, seguntes Hans Bahlow, prebablement sía precelta, pero encara d'orichen indoeuropeo. O nombre perteneixería asinas a la capa d'os nombres d'augua conservaus mas antigos. Por tanto, Würm se compone de l'indoeuropeu uer-, uor- ("augua, plevida, río") y un sufixo m.[3]
