By day, WCDC is powered at 10,000 watts. But to avoid interference to other stations on 950 AM, at night it reduces power to 6,000 watts. It uses a directional antenna with a six-tower array.[2] Programming is also heard on 250-watt FM translatorW299CY at 107.7 MHz.[3]
The station signed on the air in December 1963; 60 years ago (1963-12).[4] The original call sign was WBER. It was a 500-watt daytimer station, required to go off the air at night. In 1967, it was acquired by the Berkeley Broadcasting Company and it aired a country music format.
