"I Want to Break Free" je pjesma britanske rock grupe "Queen", originalno sa njihovog 11. studijskog albuma The Works iz 1984. godine. Pjesmu je napisao basist John Deacon a objavljena je na gramofonskoj ploči (7" i 12") kao i na CD izdanju od 3" i 5". Snimljena je tokom 1983. godine a ukupno postoje tri verzije pjesme (albumska, singl i proširena verzija pjesme). Pjesmu je grupa izvodila na većini svojih koncerata, pojavljivala se i u nekoliko videa. Također je izvedena na koncertu Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert u izvedbi Lise Stansfield.

Nakon što je singl objavljen, prihvaćen je širom Evrope i Južne Amerike gdje je uvršten među deset na top-listama i smatran kao himna u borbi protiv ugnjetavanja. S druge strane, dostigao je tek 45. mjesto na američkoj top-listi ali i visoko 3. mjesto u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu sa preko 200.000 prodatih primjeraka i srebrnim tiražom.[3]

Video spot

Pjesma je postala široko poznata po video spotu. Naime u spotu se svi članovi grupe pojavljuju u ženskoj odjeći. Koncept spota je predložen od strane Rogera Taylora i predstavljao je parodiju na ITV-ovu opersku sapunicu "Coronation Street". Drugi dio spota sadrži i kompoziciju izvedenu sa Kraljevskim baletom i koreografijom osmišljenom od strane Waynea Eaglinga. Iako je spot burno pozdravljen i prihvaćen u domovini (UK), u SAD-u je naišao na osuđivanje i kontroverze usljed čega je zabranjen na MTV-ju[4] i drugim TV stanicama.
