Alfa podjedinice ova četiri ljudska glikoproteinska hormona su identične; međutim njihovi beta lanci jedinstveni su i daju biološku specifičnost. Protein kodiran ovim genom je alfa podjedinica i pripada porodici alfa lanaca glikoprotenskih hormona.[2]
