Tilia je rod lipâ iz porodice Malvaceae, koji uključuje 42 vrste drveća.[1] Mogu dostići visinu i do 25 do 30 metara, a starost i do nekoliko stotina godina.[2][3]

Prema Cronquistovom sistemu klasifikacije, ovaj rod je uključen u porodicu Tiliaceae, ali genetička istraživanja Grupe za filogeniju angiospermi pokazala su da ova bivša porodica pripada porodici Malvaceae.[4][5]

U Bosni i Hercegovini i kontinentalnim susjednim zemljanma najčešće su bijela ili srebrena (Tilia tomentosa), mnogolisna (Tilia platyphyllos) i sitnolisna lipa (Tilia cordata).
