Alexander Gennadyevich Khloponin (Russian: Алекса́ндр Генна́дьевич Хлопо́нин; born March 6, 1965) is a Russian politician. Khloponin served Governor of Krasnoyarsk Krai, a krai located in Siberia, from October 2002 to January 2010. From 2010 to 2018, Khlonopin served as Deputy Prime Minister of Russia. He is a member of United Russia.
In 2001, he became the governor of Taymyr Autonomous Okrug in northern Siberia, holding that position until 2002.[3] Khloponin won the election for governor of Krasnoyarsk Krai against Alexander Uss, another man with major business links. The race was relatively close, with Khloponin winning only 48% of the vote even in the runoff.[4]
