Billy Harris (born 25 January 1995) is a British tennis player. He has a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 101 achieved on 9 September 2024. He is the current British No. 4.[2] He also has a career-high doubles ranking of No. 265 achieved on 12 February 2024.[3]

Career

2022

Harris won the ATP Challenger doubles title at the 2022 Winnipeg National Bank Challenger with Kelsey Stevenson.

2023: ATP debut and first win

He reached his first singles Challenger final at the inaugural edition of the 2023 Challenger Club Els Gorchs in Las Franquesas del Valles, Spain as a qualifier where he lost to second seed Hugo Grenier.[4]

He made his ATP debut at the 2023 Sofia Open where as a qualifier he reached the main draw and defeated defending champion Marc-Andrea Huesler in the first round.[5][6]

2024: Consecutive quarterfinals & grass semifinal, Wimbledon and Davis Cup debuts

Ranked No. 162, he received a wildcard for the main draw at the 2024 Queen's Club Championships and reached his first ATP career quarterfinal. En route, he defeated Tomás Martín Etcheverry and qualifier Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the second round, for his second and third wins at the ATP tour level. As a result he reached the top 150 in the rankings on 24 June 2024.[1][7] His good form continued at the next grass court tournament, the 2024 Eastbourne International where ranked No. 139, he defeated compatriot and fellow wildcard Jacob Fearnley in the first round[8] and another compatriot, lucky loser Charles Broom in the second to reach back-to-back quarterfinals.[9][10][11] He reached his first ATP career semifinal with a win over Flavio Cobolli in three sets.[12][13] He then lost to Max Purcell in a tight three-set match.[14][15] As a result, he reached the Top 125 in the rankings.

For his Grand Slam debut, he received a wildcard for the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.[16][1][17] Harris lost in the first round to Spain's Jaume Munar.[18] Harris qualified for the main draw at the 2024 Hall of Fame Open in Newport, Rhode Island, going on to defeat Gabriel Diallo in the first round.[19] He lost his next match to Mackenzie McDonald.[20]

Harris made his debut for the Great Britain Davis Cup team against Finland in Manchester, England, on 11 September 2024, defeating Otto Virtanen in straight sets.[21][22]
