Clubul Sportiv Gilortul Târgu Cărbunești , commonly known as Gilortul Târgu Cărbunești , is a Romanian professional football club from Târgu Cărbunești , Gorj County , currently competes in the Liga III , the 3rd tier of the Romanian football .[1]
History
In the 2013–14 season , Gilortul, led by Sergiu Găman, won the Liga IV Gorj , but lost the promotion play-off match against Minerul Mehedinți , the champion of Mehedinți County , 0–2 after extra time , on 1 Mai Stadium in Slatina .[2]
Coached by Marius Ionel, Gilortul won the Gorj County championship for the second consecutive season , losing again the promotion play-off to Liga III, 3–11 on aggregate with Cetate Deva , the winner of Liga IV – Hunedoara County .[3] [4] [5]
After won the 2015–16 season of the Liga IV – Gorj County, the white-and-blues missed promotion in the third division for the third time in a row, losing the promotion play-off against Hermannstadt , the champion of Sibiu County . After 0–1 at the Municipal Stadium in Sibiu , the team led by Mihai Dinu lost 1–5 at Târgu Cărbunești.[6]
