Spanish singer Rosalía's music career began in 2013 when she contributed vocals to the cast of many musicals in her native Barcelona. She then went to contribute to the soundtrack albums of many benefic organisations, albums for children and commercials for different brands. In June 2016, Rosalía released her debut single "Antes de Morirme", a collaboration with C. Tangana, which reached its peak of popularity in 2018 after it was included in the soundtrack of the Netflix show Élite. Her debut album, Los Ángeles, was released in February 2017 and was supported by the flamenco singles "Catalina" and "De Plata".
Rosalía's second studio album, El Mal Querer, co-produced by el Guincho, was released in November 2018 and presented as her bachelor's degree project, graduating from flamenco studies with honors. The album narrated the story of the 13th-century Occitan novel Flamenca and received universal critical acclaim for its experimental production and mixing of pop and hip hop with flamenco. Her commercial breakthrough in Spain, it spawned the successful singles "Malamente", "Pienso en tu mirá", "Di mi nombre", and "Bagdad". Rosalía explored reggaeton on the collaborative singles "Con Altura" with J Balvin and el Guincho and "Yo x Ti, Tú x Mí" with Ozuna in 2019, both of which became worldwide hits.
Rosalía released her third studio album, Motomami, in March 2022. The album experimented with alternative reggaeton and received critical acclaim for its genre-bending sounds. It garnered international success with the singles "La Fama" featuring the Weeknd and "Despechá", the latter of which became her highest-charting song worldwide. In 2023, she collaborated with Rauw Alejandro on the EP RR and its lead single "Beso", which saw further success. Rosalía featured on Lisa's single "New Woman" in 2024, which marked her first chart entry in several Asian countries.
