From a modern-Texan point-of-view, Gonzales is the beginning, as the table presently indicates. Yet, from an historical and global perspective, prior to Texas declaring Independence, the battles were between the Mexican Centralists and Federalists.
The first battle was the Battle of Zacatecas taking place on the 10th and 11th of May, 1835.
