Chen Duxiu

Chen Duxiu

Chen Duxiu (kiin. 陳獨秀, 8. lokakuuta 1879 – 27. toukokuuta 1942) oli kiinalainen sosialisti, joka perusti Kiinan kommunistisen puolueen Li Dazhaon kanssa vuonna 1921, ja jonka ensimmäisenä pääsihteerinä hän toimi vuosina 1921–1927. Chen oli myös yksi johtohahmoista anti-imperialistisessa Xinhai-vallankumouksessa sekä Toukokuun neljännen päivän liikkeessä.

Vuonna 1927 Chen erotettiin kommunistisen puolueen pääsihteerin tehtävästä ja vuonna 1929 koko puolueesta,[1] koska häntä syytettiin kommunistisen vallankumouksen epäonnistumisesta kiinalaiskaupungeissa.[2]

Vuonna 1932 Chen pidätettiin trotskilaisena ja hänet tuomittiin 13 vuodeksi vankilaan. Hänet kuitenkin vapautettiin aiemmin heikon terveydentilan vuoksi. Vapauduttuaan Chen pysytteli poissa julkisuudesta ja kuoli 27. toukokuuta 1942.[2]
