Salvatore Di Giacomo, né le à Naples (royaume des Deux-Siciles, aujourd’hui en Italie) et mort le dans cette même ville, est un poète et dramaturge italien, auteur de poésies en napolitain.

Biographie

Sensible à la vie et à la culture dite subalterne de sa ville (ancienne capitale d'importance européenne) et à une vision anthropologique de ses diverses manifestations, il est l'un des premiers en Italie à puiser à l'héritage de Verlaine, à sa musicalité, ses rythmes impairs[1]. Il est aussi journaliste et essayiste[2].

« Io nun racconto Napule comm'è ma comme mi pare » (« Je ne raconte pas Naples comme elle est, mais comme elle me paraît »), disait-il, en deçà de tout prétendu réalisme de type folklorique : ce qui pourrait conduire à une première approche de son œuvre[évasif]. La résistance à l'homologation centralisée de la langue et des styles - sur le modèle toscan - en serait une deuxième, en avance sur certaines[évasif] considérations de Pasolini au siècle suivant. Avec Murolo, il a été l'un des créateurs de la chanson napolitaine classique à son apogée.

Il est également auteur de pièces de théâtre, en particulier de Assunta Spina (1909), souvent jouée avant d'être portée à l'écran.

En 1908, pendant quelques mois, il a une relation avec Elena Bacaloglu, qui traduit son Assunta Spina en roumain en août 1909[3].
