Contracepción

Paquete de pílulas anticonceptivas.

A contracepción[1] ou control da natalidade é o uso dalgún tipo de método anticonceptivo coa finalidade de evitar a concepción. A palabra contracepción vén do latín contra (ídem) e conceptio ou concipere 'concibir', 'formación dun novo ser'. A Organización Mundial da Saúde define a contracepción como o uso de axentes, dispositivos, métodos ou procedementos para reducir a probabilidade de concepción ou para evitala. Os procedementos empregados deben ser temporais e reversibles, se non é de esterilización (castración, vasectomía e ligadura de trompas).

A contracepción é un tema controvertido politicamente e eticamente, en moitas culturas e relixións e, aínda que é moito menos controvertido que o aborto, hai grupos que se opoñen a el. A oposición non é heteroxénea: algúns son de oposición a calquera forma de contracepción agás a abstinencia, outros son a oposición a calquera forma de contracepción que eles consideran "non natural" e, finalmente, outros aceptan calquera forma de contracepción que impide a fecundación do óvulo, pero opóñense a calquera método que impida que un óvulo xa fecundado se adhira ó útero.
