Joana Serrat i Tarré, nada en Vic en 1983 é unha cantante e compositora catalá de estilo folk de raíces americanas con trazos de pop que canta na súa maioría en inglés, pero ás veces tamén en catalán. O seu estilo intimista e evocador ten claras influencias estadounidenses e canadenses.[1]

Traxectoria

Joana Serrat comezou a súa carreira musical a principios de 2008, coa aparición do seu primeiro álbum Liffey baixo o acrónimo J. S. T. O álbum, moi intimista, nace dunha estadía en Dublín e gaña o premio Troc de Músics,[2] feito que lle permitiu actuar por primeira vez en Portugal e Perpiñán.[3] Participa no festival Invictro 2008 dentro do Mercat de Música Viva de Vic, e uns meses despois publica Hit The Pavement (2009),[4] publicado o disco por si mesmo e que non promociona.

Nos anos seguintes, afástase dos escenarios e entra nun longo período de reflexión e introspección persoal, no que, en varias sesións no Baraka Estudio gravar o que acabará sendo o seu terceiro álbum: The Relief Sessions. En 2009, en 5 días grava sete cancións que forman parte dun novo traballo, pero o proceso posterior alóngase e ó non atopar selo ou distribuidor adiouse o lanzamento. Meses despois, continua compoñendo e o resultado xurdirá no 2010 e no 2011 un segundo CD que vai pechar o tema aberto nas gravacións de 2009, formando así un traballo que vai facer un dobre CD publicado finalmente en 2012.
