Le Dernier Métro é un filme francés de 1980 escrito e dirixido por François Truffaut, e protagonizado por Catherine Deneuve e Gérard Depardieu.[4] Ambientado en 1942 durante a ocupación alemá de Francia, segue a fortuna dun pequeno teatro da zona de Montmartre, en París, que emprega a resistencia pasiva mantendo a súa integridade cultural, a pesar da censura, o antisemitismo e a escaseza de materiais, para saír triunfante ao final da guerra.[5] O título evoca dous feitos salientables da vida da cidade baixo os alemáns: a escaseza de combustible levou á xente a pasar as noites en teatros e outros lugares de entretemento, mais o toque de queda fixo que tivesen que coller o último tren do metro para casa.

Foi escollido como candidato de Francia para o Óscar ó mellor filme internacional na 53ª edición dos premios, sendo finalmente nomeado.

Sinopse

Durante a ocupación alemá durante a segunda guerra mundial, un director de teatro xudeu en París, Lucas Steiner, vese obrigado a agacharse na adega do teatro onde a súa muller, a actriz Marion Steiner, o actor Bernard Granger e un grupo de actores, ensaian e presentan unha obra. Daxiat, un crítico de teatro pronazi fai unha crítica violenta da obra. Granger encóntrao e golpéao. A resposta é a posible incautación do teatro porque foi propiedade dun xudeu. Marion reclámalle violentamente a súa imprudencia. Traballan e triunfan na obra, mais déixanse de falar. Granger decide deixar a obra e unirse á resistencia.
