Camilan atau kudapan yang secara garis besar disebut makanan ringan (bahasa Inggris: snack) adalah istilah makanan yang bukan merupakan menu utama (sarapan, makan siang atau makan malam). Makanan yang dianggap makanan ringan merupakan makanan untuk menghilangkan rasa lapar seseorang untuk sementara waktu, memberi sedikit pasokan tenaga ke tubuh, atau sesuatu yang dimakan untuk dinikmati rasanya.

Gizi

Badan pemerintah, seperti Health Canada, merekomendasikan agar orang-orang berusaha secara sadar untuk memilih makanan ringan yang lebih sehat dan alami, seperti buah, sayuran, kacang-kacangan, dan biji-bijian sambil menghindari makanan cepat saji berkalori tinggi dan rendah nutrisi.[1]

Sebuah studi tahun 2010 menunjukkan bahwa anak-anak di Amerika Serikat mengemil rata-rata enam kali per hari, kira-kira dua kali lebih banyak daripada anak-anak Amerika Serikat pada tahun 1970-an.[2] Konsumsi ini mewakili sekitar 570 kalori lebih banyak per hari daripada yang dikonsumsi anak-anak Amerika Serikat pada 1970-an.[3]
