Prof. Dr. H. Matthias Aroef, MSIE, IPM, (20 September 1930 – 28 Maret 2018) adalah seorang teknokrat dan pengajar Indonesia.

Karier

Ia pernah mengajar sebagai Guru Besar Teknik Industri di Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB).[1] Matthias Aroef juga dijuluki sebagai Bapak Teknik Industri Indonesia karena jasanya yang besar dalam pengembangan ilmu teknik industri di Tanah Air.

Ia memulai karier sebagai dosen di ITB, hingga kemudian menjadi guru besar teknik industri pada perguruan tinggi tersebut. Matthias dikenal sebagai pencetus lahirnya jurusan teknik dan manajemen industri di banyak perguruan tinggi di Indonesia. Namanya juga sering diasosiasikan sebagai pemikir paling representatif Gerakan Membangun Produktivitas.[1]

Pendidikan

Matthias menamatkan pendidikan di Bagian Teknik Mesin, Universitas Indonesia (UI) (kini Institut Teknologi Bandung) dengan meraih gelar sarjana muda pada tahun 1954. Gelar doktor (S3) bidang industrial engineering kemudian ia peroleh dari Ohio State University, Columbus, Amerika Serikat.[1]

Keluarga

Putri pertamanya, Arita, menikah dengan Jusman Syafii Djamal, mantan Menteri Perhubungan pada Kabinet Indonesia Bersatu.[1]

Kematian

Matthias meninggal dunia pada 28 Maret 2018 di Rumah Sakit Medistra, Jakarta pada usia 87 tahun.[2]
