Militer Amerika Serikat ditempatkan di lebih dari 150 negara di dunia. 172.966 personel dari total 1.372.522[1] menjadi personel aktif yang bekerja di luar Amerika Serikat dan teritori-teritorinya. Kebanyakan personel luar negeri ini diterjunkan ke zona konflik di Timur Tengah sebagai bagian Perang Melawan Teror. Sebagian sisanya ditempatkan di instalasi-instalasi yang diaktifkan semasa Perang Dingin. Saat itu pemerintah A.S. berusaha melawan Uni Soviet pasca-Perang Dunia II.[2]

Personel A.S. menjalani pertempuran aktif di Afghanistan. Sebagian lainnya menjalani misi penjaga perdamaian, atase militer, atau bagian dari kedutaan besar dan keamanan konsulat.

Berikut adalah daftar negara menurut kawasannya tempat per 31 Desember 2012.[1] Jumlah tersebut tidak mencakup kontraktor militer atau sipil, Negara-negara yang memiliki kurang dari 75 personel A.S. diabaikan.
