Penumpasan pemberontakan

Polisi menanyai seorang warga sipil saat Kedaruratan Malaya. Penumpasan pemberontakan meliputi tindakan baik dari otoritas militer maupun polisi.

Penumpasan pemberontakan (bahasa Inggris: counter-insurgency, counterinsurgency,[1] COIN) dapat diartikan sebagai "upaya militer dan sipil menyeluruh yang diambil untuk mengalahkan dan memadamkan pemberontakan dan mencabut sampai ke akar-akarnya".[2] Pemberontakan yang dimaksud adalah pemberontakan melawan sebuah pemerintahan yang dilancarkan oleh orang-orang atau kelompok-kelompok yang tidak diakui sebagai pihak yang turut berperang (belligerent) dalam hukum humaniter internasional.[3]
