뽕나무과(---科, 학명: Moraceae 모라케아이[*])는 장미목의 과이다.[1] 40속, 1000여 종 이상의 식물을 거느리고 있다. 대다수가 열대, 아열대 지역에 서식하나 드물게 온대에 서식하기도 한다. 이전에는 쐐기풀목으로 분류했으나, 현재는 최근의 계통분류학 연구에 따라 장미목으로 분류한다. 뽕모시풀속을 제외하고는 모두 나무이다.

대한민국에는 꾸지뽕나무속, 뽕모시풀속, 뽕나무속, 무화과나무속, 닥나무속 5속의 10여 종이 대한민국에 서식한다. 풀인 뽕모시풀속을 제외한 나무 네 가지 속을 구분하는 방법은 다음과 같다.

  • 꽃이 열매 안에 있으면 무화과속이다.
  • 꽃이 열매 바깥에 있으면서
    • 잎에 톱니가 없고 가지에 가시가 있으면 구지뽕나무속이다.
    • 잎에 톱니가 있고 가시가 없으면서
      • 열매가 둥글면 닥나무속이다.
      • 열매가 긴 편이면 뽕나무속이다.[2]
