Daily NK ialah akhbar dalam talian yang berfokus pada isu-isu Korea Utara. Laman yang dikendalikan oleh warga Korea Utara dan Selatan dibantu kakitangan dan sukarelawan dari negara ketiga ini beribu pejabat di Korea Selatan. Daily NK menerima berita dari sejumlah informan di dalam Korea Utara.[1]

Daily NK dibiayai oleh pelbagai institusi dan penderma swasta, termasuk National Endowment for Democracy, NGO yang dipimpin Carl Gershman dan dibiayai Kongres A.S.[2] Presiden Daily NK kini ialah Park In-ho.[3]

Sejarah

Ditubuhkan pada Disember 2004 oleh Han Ki Hong dan Network for North Korean Democracy and Human Rights,[4] Daily NK menampilkan berita seputar Korea Utara yang berfokus pada maklumat dalam dan masalah hak asasi manusia. Akhbar ini diterbitkan dalam bahasa Korea, tetapi juga menyediakan versi bahasa Inggeris, Cin, dan Jepun. Sumber-sumbernya di dalam Korea Utara berkomunikasi dengan ibu pejabat melalui telefon selular China.[5] Daily NK juga memiliki koresponden di Republik Rakyat China yang mewawancarai orang-orang yang melintasi sempadan China-Korea Utara.[6] Akhbar ini juga mengangkat kisah pelarian Korea Utara[7] dan mengawasi aktiviti media Korea Utara.[8]

Laporan Daily NK sering dipetik oleh media antarabangsa.[9] Putera sulung bekas pemimpin Korea Utara Kim Jong-il, Kim Jong-nam, menyebut Daily NK sebagai sumber maklumat dalam Korea Utara yang paling tepat, terutama mengenai keadaan pasaran negaranya.[10][11] Sementara itu, Dewan Pendamaian Kebangsaan Korea Utara dalam kenyataan rasminya melalui KCNA pernah mengkritik Daily NK kerana melakukan "kempen pencemaran nama baik yang anti-DPRK". Lee Chan-ho dari Kementerian Unifikasi Korea Selatan memperingatkan pada tahun 2010 bahawa "banyak laporan mentah tanpa pengesahan" dari sejumlah pertubuhan, termasuk Daily NK justeru "menyukarkan usaha untuk memahami keadaan Korea Utara."[12]

Hwang Jang-yop, tokoh politik ternama Korea Utara sebelum hilang pada tahun 1997, sering menulis ruangan di laman ini sebelum meninggal dunia di Seoul pada 2010.[13] Salah seorang tokoh Korea Utara, Thae Yong-ho juga mengisi ruangan tentang hubungan Korea Utara dan Korea Selatan.[14]
