Kenderaan tempur, juga dikenali sebagai kenderaan tempur darat, adalah sejenis kenderaan tentera bergerak sendiri dan lengkap bersenjata yang digunakan untuk operasi tempur. Kenderaan tempur boleh terdiri daripada jenis beroda ataupun berunut.

Rata ialah sejenis pedati kuda yang menggunakan binatang (biasanya kuda)[1] untuk memberikan kuasa penggerak pantas. Rata yang digunakan untuk berperang dikenali sebagai "teksi tempur" dan platform memanah bergerak, serta kegiatan lain seperti memburu atau perlumbaan sukan, dan sebagai kenderaan utama kebanyakan orang purba, semasa perjalanan pantas diperlukan bukannya beban yang dibawa. Rata yang asal adalah laju, ringan, terbuka, kenderaan beroda dua yang ditarik oleh dua ekor kuda atau lebih yang diikat sebelah menyebelah. Kereta itu berlantai kecil dengan pelapik separa bulat paras pinggang di hadapan. Rata, didorong oleh seorang penunggang, telah digunakan untuk peperangan purba semasa zaman gangsa dan besi. Perisai pula dijadikan sebagai pelindung.
