Hugo Lewi Hammer (født 1976) er en norsk statistiker og professor ved Institutt for informasjonsteknologi ved Oslomet – storbyuniversitetet.[2] Hammer er også leder for rådgivende utvalg i OsloMet Artificial Intelligence Lab (AI Lab), et forskningssenter for kunstig intelligens som drives av Oslomet og Simula Metropolitan Center for Digital Engineering. Hammer har en bistilling som forsker ved Simula Metropolitan Center for Digital Engineering.[3]
Hammers fremste forskningsinteresser er Bayesiansk statistikk, maskinlæring og forsterkende læring, sanntidsanalyse og stokastisk simulering.
Utdanning og yrkeskarriere
Hammer har doktorgrad i beregningsorientert statistikk fra Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet (NTNU). Avhandlingen hadde tittelen Topics in stochastic simulation, with an application to seismic inversion, og ble publisert i 2008.[4]
I 2008 ble Hammer ansatt som forsker ved Norsk Regnesentral, og året etter ble han tilsatt som førsteamanuensis ved Institutt for informasjonsteknologi ved Oslomet - storbyuniversitetet, der han har vært tilsatt siden.
