Kinesisk opera

Den kinesiske opera (kinesisk: 戏曲, pinyin: Xìqǔ) utviklet seg i Tang-dynastiet (618–906) som tidlige former for musikkteater. I motsetning til den europeiske operatradisjon dreier det seg om en kunst- og uttrykksform som i utgangspunktet var en folkelig kunstform som etterhvert begynte å falle i smak og fremmes av de høyere stender og adelen.

Hovedtrekk og historie

Tekst og musikk ble lenge tradert kun muntlig eller rettere uttrykt ved å gjengi hva man hørte. tekstbøker og partiturer ble ikke utbredt før på tidlig 1900-tall.

Til forskjell fra mange andre former for musikkdramaer (som i Europa, India eller Japan) forener den kinesiske opera uttrykksformer som musikk, sang, skuespill, dans og akrobatikk i lokaltypiske utforminger. Tematikken kretser helst om alment kjente legender og myter som gis små tilpasninger ut fra aktuelle sosiale, politiske og spirituelle aspekter; tidligere kunne aktualitetsgehalten være svært iøynefallende.

Da Tang-dynastiets keiser Xuanzong (712–755) grunnla Pærehaven (líyuán; 梨园), ble det utgangspunktet for den første virkelig kjente operatrupp i landet, og den hadde som viktigste oppgave å opptre for keiseren. Enn i dag er det vanlig å høre skuespillere innen den kinesiske opera omtalt som «elever av pærehaven» (梨园子弟).

Under Yuan-dynastiet (1279–1368) fantes former som for eksempel Zájù (杂剧, varieté) inngang i operaen, og det var fra denne tiden at de spesialiserte hovedtyper rollefigurer utviklet seg.

Yuan-dynastiets mer typiske former lever videre i dagens Kanton-opera. Det antas at formen ble importert dit fra Nordkina og hadde festnet sine røtter i provinsen Guangdong på 1200-tallet. Det gikk slik til: På 1100-tallet fantes det en operaform ved navn Narm hei (南戲), eller Nanxi (sørlig opera), og den fant man særlig i teatrene i Hangzhou, Song-dynastiets hovedstad i dets senere fase. Etter som mongolene flyktet Keiser Gōng (恭帝) i 1276 med hundretusener av Song-lojale til Guangdong. Blant dem var det også Narm hei-kunstnere.

Den mest kjente form for kinesisk opera er nå Pekingoperaen. Den utviklet seg fra den gamle Kunqu-operaen (昆曲 kūnqǔ), som på 1500-tallet ble ansett som en kunstform av nasjonal storhet. Særlig operaensembler fra provinsen Ānhuī skulle så på 1800-tallet berike Kūnqǔ-tradisjonen med akrobatisk kroppsføring og fargerik koreografi. Ut fra dette oppstod den pekingoperaretning som går under navnet jīngjù (京剧)

En særlig blomstringstid for den kinesiske opera var fra rundt 1830 til 1960.

Fra «Rød kvinneavdeling», en av de få operaer som ble tillatt under kulturrevolusjonen.

Under kulturrevolusjonen i Folkerepublikken Kina var den motarbeidet og forhånet, og fikk ikke oppføres. Unntaket var noen få svært militant pregede og svært politisk ideologiske revolusjonseposer, som til gjengjeld ble gjentatt gang på gang og fremført land og strand rundt.

Først i 1977 kunne en mer klassisk kinesisk opera igjen se dagens lys.
