Mannen i Høyborgen (engelsk originaltittel: The Man in the High Castle) er en kontrafaktisk historie-roman av den amerikanske forfatteren Philip K. Dick. Boken ble utgitt i 1962, og handlingen foregår i USA omtrent samtidig. I romanen har aksemaktene vunnet andre verdenskrig og tatt kontrollen over USA. Det vestlige Nord-Amerika er underlagt De japanske stillehavsstater med San Francisco som hovedstad. Kolonien regjeres av Keiserriket Japan. Det østlige USA kontrolleres av Det storgermanske rike, med New York som kolonihovedstad.

Romanen vant en Hugopris for beste roman i 1963. Ifølge forfatteren selv, ble han inspirert av bøker som Ward Moores alternative borgerkrigshistorie Bring the Jubilee (1953), klassiske andre verdenskrig-historier og Yijing (som også nevnes i romanen). Boken har også en «roman i romanen», med en alternativ historie i den alternative historien, der de allierte faktisk har vunnet krigen over aksemaktene. Den allierte seieren er imidlertid noe annerledes fra den virkelige allierte seieren i 1945. Den norske oversettelsen ble gjort av Arne Moen og ble utgitt som del av Gyldendals Lanterne-serie i 1977. Den norske utgaven har forord av Moen og etterord av Jon Bing og Tor Åge Bringsværd.[1]

I 2015 ble filmen spilt inn som TV-serie, Mannen i høyborgen, i fire sesonger på Prime Video. Dicks datter, Isa Dick Hackett, var en av produsentene for serien.

Pris

Boken ble tildelt Hugoprisen for beste roman 1963, i klassen for beste science fiction-roman utgitt i 1962.[2][3][4]
