Markus J. J. Graulich S.D.B. (født 13. august 1964 i Hadamar i Vest-Tyskland) er en tysk katolsk geistlig, kanonist og kirkerettslig dommer.

Liv og virke

Bakgrunn

Markus Graulich vokste opp i Niedertiefenbach. Den 15. august 1984 sluttet han seg til salesianerordenen (S.D.B.) i Jünkerath. Han studerte sosialpedagogikk og katolsk teologi ved Det teologiske fakultet i Benediktbeuern.

Prest

Han ble ordinert til prest den 25. juni 1994 og arbeidet til å begynne med i Essen i sjelesorgen. Etter å ha fullført doktorgradsstudiene, mottok han sin doktorgrad i kirkerett fra Università Pontificia Salesiana i 1999. I 2004 habiliterte han med en avhandling om Gottlieb Söhngen hos Ilona Riedel-Spangenberger ved Johannes Gutenberg-universitetet i Mainz.

Markus Graulich var direktør for Istituto storico di diritto Canonicoog professor i den kanoniske retts grunnleggende spørsmål og historie ved Università Pontificia Salesiana i Roma. Han var også assisterende dekan ved Fakultet for kanonisk rett.

Han var deltaker i de XI, XII og XIII ordinære generalforsamling i bispesynoden og ansvarlig for synoderapporteringen på tysk.

Den romerske kurie

Den 19. juni 2009 ble han utnevnt av pave Benedikt XVI til Promotor iustitiae ved Signatura Apostolica,^[2] og 22. desember 2009 også utnevnt til konsultor for det faste generalsekretariatet for bispesynoden. I april 2011 ble Graulich utnevnt til konsulent for det pavelige råd for juridiske tekster.

Pave Benedikt XVI utnevnte ham til dommer i Den romerske rota den 30. desember 2011. Han var dermed etterfølgeren til Josef Huber som representant for det tysktalende område i dommerrådet i Rotaen.

Den 22. mai 2014 utnevnte pave Frans Graulich til undersekretær for Det pavelige råd for juridiske tekster. En neste tysktalende dommer ved Rota ble først utnevnt tre år senere, Hans-Peter Fischer.
