Sørvest-England på Commons

Sørvest-England (engelsk South West England) er en av Englands regioner. Den dekker området kjent som the West Country og store deler av det historiske Wessex, men ikke Hampshire. Det er ikke planer om å opprette en folkevalgt regionsforsamling.

Da regionen ble opprettet besto den av Avon, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset og Wiltshire. Grevskapet Avon har siden blitt oppløst, og flere distrikter har blitt overført fra et grevskap til et annet.

Sørvest-England utgjorde en valgkrets for valgene til Europaparlamentet. Fra 2004 ble Gibraltar regnet med i regionen, fram til Storbritannia gikk ut av EU.

Cornwalls status i regionen er noe omstridt. Selv om de fleste regner grevskapet som en del av England, er det en betydelig minoritet som mener at det bør regnes som en egen nasjon. De fleste av disse går ikke inn for uavhengighet, men ønsker å stå utenfor Sørvest-England og utgjøre en egen region med en grad av selvstyre.
