Saleh al-Arouri (Arabic: صَالِحٌ الْعَارُورِيُّ, also transliterated as Salah al-Arouri or Salih al-Aruri; 19 August 1966[1] – 2 January 2024[2]) was a senior leader of Hamas, and a founding commander of its military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, at the time of his death.[3][4] He lived in Lebanon.[5][6]
On 2 January 2024, al-Arouri was killed in Dahieh, suburban Beirut, in a missile attack by the Israel Defense Forces.[2][7]
