Walter Lassally (18 December 1926 – 23 October 2017) was a German-born British-Greek cinematographer. He won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography in 1964 for the movie Zorba the Greek. He was born in Berlin. He moved to England in 1939.[1] He was closely worked with the Free cinema movement in the 1950s, and the British New Wave in the early 1960s.
Lassally died on October 23, 2017 at a hospital in Crete, Greece from complications of surgery at the age of 90.[2]
