Elmalı Ovası

Elmalı Ovası, Antalya ili, Elmalı ilçesinin içinde bulunduğu karstik ova. Büyüklüğü 200 km'ye yakın ova kuzeyde Karagöl'e, güneyde Avlan Gölü'ne, GB'da Gömbe'ye doğru uzanır.[1]

Batıdan Girdev Yaylası tarafından, uzanan Çakal Tepe ovayı iki parçaya ayırır. Kuzey parçanın suları Karagöl'e toplanır. Bu gölden çıkan akarsu (Göl ayağı) bir düdene batar. Güney bölümün suları Akdağ ve Gömbe'den Akçay tarafından getirilir ve Avlan Gölü'ne dökülür. Ova ortasında 4–5 m yüksekliğindeki sırt hariç, iki havzayı birbirinden ayıran belirgin bir yükselti bulunmaz.[1]

Ovanın kuzeyinde yer alan Elmalı'da yıllık ortalama yağış 449 mm, ortalama sıcaklık 13,1 °C'dir. Ova toprakları I. sınıf tarım arazisidir. Tarım alanlarının %89'u elma bahçesidir. Seracılık, sebzecilik ve tarla bitkileri yetiştirilir. Gömbe, Yaylakılıçlı, Cemre ve Yeşilbarak mahalleleri polye içinde olmasına rağmen idari olarak Kaş ilçesine bağlıdır.[2]

Akdeniz'e kısmen kapalı olan polye 1030–1100 m yüksekliğindedir. Kışlar soğuktur ve kar yağar. En fazla yağış ilkbahar ve sonbaharda düşer, yazın dahi yağdığı olur. Bölgede Kırkikindi yağışları da görülür.

Elmalı polyesi, çok büyük (ultramega) polyeler sınıfındadır.[3]
