Expo

Expo 1933.

Expo, "exposition" kelimesinin kısaltılmışı; başlıca Dünya Fuarı olarak da bilinen ve 19. yüzyılın ortalarından beri düzenlenen organizasyondur. Türkçe karşılığı "sergi"dir.

Expo resmi olarak Uluslararası Sergiler Bürosu (BIE) tarafından gerçekleştirilir. BIE 3 çeşit fuar düzenler. Genelde 3-6 ay arası sürer. Ayrıca, ülkeler kendi 'fuar'larını ya da 'sergi'lerini BIE onayı olmadan da düzenleyebilirler.

Günümüzde, Expo FIFA Dünya Kupası ve Olimpiyat Oyunlarından sonra dünyada ekonomik ve kültürel etki yaratan üçüncü en büyük organizasyondur. Expolar 150 yıldan fazla süreden beri düzenlenmektedir. (Modern Olimpiyat Oyunları ve Dünya Kupası'ndan daha uzun süredir.) İlk Expo 1851 yılında Londra'da, Hyde Park'ta, Kristal Palas'ta “Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations” teması altında düzenlenmiştir.

Organizasyon 2015 yılında İtalya'nın Milano kentinde yapılmıştır. 2016 yılında Çiçek ve Çocuk temalı Botanik EXPO fuarı 23 Nisan - 30 Ekim tarihleri arasında Antalya ilinin Aksu ilçesinde yapıldı.[1]

Paris'te 27 Kasım 2013'te yapılan Expo 2020 oylamasının ikinci turunda Dubai seçilmiştir.[2]

Hatay'da 1 Nisan-30 Eylül arasında ''Medeniyetler Bahçesi'' temalı Expo 2021 düzenlenecektir.[3]
