Frederick William Twort (1877 -1950) İngiliz bakteriyolog ve orijinal Bakteriyofaj'ı (Bakterileri enfekte eden virüs) bulan kişidir.[2] Londra'daki St Thomas Hastanesi'nde çalışmış, bir patoloji araştırma merkezi olan Brown Institute for Animals'ta yöneticilik yapmıştır. Twort, Londra Üniversitesi'nde bakteriyoloji profesörüydü. Paratüberküloz üzerine araştırmalar yapmış, bunun yanında cüzzam bakterilerinin gelişimi için K vitaminine ihtiyaç duyulduğunu keşfetmiştir.[3][4]
