Hong Sang-soo (Korece: 홍상수; d. 25 Ekim 1960), Güney Koreli film yönetmeni ve senarist. 2020'de 70. Berlin Uluslararası Film Festivali'nde yarışan Kaçak Kadın (도망친 여자) filmiyle Gümüş Ayı ödülünü kazandı.

Erken dönem

Hong Sang-soo'nun ebeveynleri film yapım şirketi Cinetel Soul'a sahipti.[3] Hong, üniversiteye giriş sınavına girdi ve Güney Kore'deki Chung-Ang Üniversitesi'nde tiyatro bölümünü kazandı. Daha sonra Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'nde eğitim gördü ve buradaki Kaliforniya Sanat ve El Sanatları Koleji'nden lisans derecesini ve Chicago Sanat Enstitüsü Okulu'ndan yüksek lisans derecesini aldı.[4][5][6]

Kariyer

Hong yönetmenlik denemesini 35 yaşındayken Domuzun Kuyuya Düştüğü Gün ile yaptı (1996).[6]

Hong'un Yeojaneun namjaui miraeda (Kadın İnsanın Geleceği, 2004) filmi Cannes Film Festivali'nde yarışmaya katılan ilk filmiydi.[3]

Hong'un filmleri ayrıca Berlin Uluslararası Film Festivali, Venedik Film Festivali ve Locarno Film Festivali'nde gösterildi.[7]

Hong, Hahaha filmiyle 2010 Cannes Film Festivali'nde Belirli Bir Bakış, Hepimizin Sevgilisi filmiyle 2013 Locarno Uluslararası Film Festivali'nde En İyi Yönetmen Gümüş Leopar Ödülü ve Doğru Zaman filmiyle 2015 Locarno Film Festivali'nde Altın Leopar ödüllerine layık görüldü.

Film tarzı

Hong filmlerinde yaygın olarak bulunan bazı unsurlar vardır. Tipik bir Hong filmi, konut sokaklarında, kafelerde, otellerde, okullarda ve apartmanların merdivenlerinde bulunan sahnelerin çoğuyla "domestik gerçekçilik" temasını vurgular.[3] Filmlerindeki karakterler şehirde dolaşır, soju içer ve seks yapar. Ana karakterler genellikle film yönetmenleri veya aktörlerdir ve sahneler genellikle tek bir çekimden oluşur ve kamera yakınlaştırmasıyla başlar ve biter. Filmlerinin bütçesi ortalama 100.000 dolardır.[7]

Hong çekim yaparken ani kararlar verir, çekimin sabahı günün sahnesini verirken ve setteyken sık sık senaryoları değiştirir.[3] Nadiren senaryoları önceden hazırlar. Hong bunun yerine temel bir kılavuzla başlar ve böylece çekimlerin olduğu günlerin sabahında sahneleri yazarak gün boyunca değişiklikler yapar.[7] Hong, film çekimlerine sabah 4'te o günün çekimleri için diyalog yazmaya başladığında başlar.[5] Hong ayrıca alkol ve sigara konusunda aktörlerle yakın ilişkiler kurar ve aktörler alkol veya sigara kullanırken bazen belirli sahneleri çeker.[8]

Hong'un stili Eric Rohmer'ınkiyle karşılaştırıldı ve hatta Rohmer'in filmlerine dair imaların Hong'un yönettiği bazı filmlerde ortaya çıktığı iddia edilmiştir.[9]

Kişisel hayat

2016 yılında Hong'un 2015 yapımı Doğru Zaman filminde yer alan aktris Kim Min-hee ile evlilik dışı bir ilişki içinde olduğu bildirildi.[10] Hong, Mart 2017'de Gece Sahilde Tek Başına filminin Seul'deki galasında ilişkinin doğru olduğunu açıkladı. Aralık 2016'da karısından boşanma davası açtı, ancak mahkeme Haziran 2019'da sadece mağdur taraf olan Hong'un karısının yasal bir ayrılık başlatabileceği konusunda ısrar ederek talebini reddetti.[11][12]
