Philippe Soupault

Philippe Soupault (2 Ağustos 1897, Chaville, Hauts-de-Seine - 12 Mart 1990, Paris) Fransız yazar ve şair, romancı, eleştirmen ve siyasi eylemci idi. Dadaizm'de aktifti ve daha sonra Sürrealist hareketi André Breton'la kurdu. Soupault, periyodik Littérature'yı, 1919'da Paris'teki yazarlar Breton ve Louis Aragon'la birlikte başlattı ve birçok kişi için Sürrealizmi atmosferini başlattı. Otomatik yazının ilk kitabı olan Les champs magnétiques (1920), Soupault ve Breton'un ortak yazarlığıydı. 1927'de Soupault, eşi Marie-Louise'nin yardımıyla William Blake'in Masumiyet ve Deneyim Şarkılarını Fransızcaya çevirdi. Ertesi yıl, Soupault, şairin edebiyatta Sürrealist hareketi öngören bir "dahi" olduğunu savunan Blake üzerine bir monograf hazırladı. Radyo Tunus'u Vichy yanlısı rejim tarafından tutuklandığında 1937'den 1940'a kadar yönetti. Cezayir'e başarıyla kaçtı.

II. Dünya Savaşı sırasında Naziler tarafından hapsi tutulan Soupault, Swarthmore Koleji'nde öğretim görevlisi olarak ABD'ye gitti ancak Ekim 1945'te Fransa'ya döndü. Yapıtları arasında Akvaryum (1917) ve Rose des vent (1920) ve Les Dernières Nuits de Paris romanı (1928; Paris'in Son Geceleri, 1929). [1]

1957'de Germaine Tailleferre operası La Petite Sirène'in yazdığı senaryo, Hans Christian Andersen'in masalını "The Little Mermaid" adlı eseri üzerine yazdı. Bu eser 1959'da French Radio National tarafından yayınlandı.

1990'da Soupault öldü, Sırp rock grubu Bjesovi şiirinin Gürcistan versiyonunu Sırpça kaydetti.

Soupault'un kısa öyküsü "Nick Carter'ın Ölümü", Robin Walz tarafından 2007'de çevrildi ve McSweeney'nin Üç Aylık Dönemi'nin 24. sayısında yayınlandı.
