Renate Boy (kızlık soyadı: Garisch-Culmberger; 24 Ocak 1939 - 5 Ocak 2023),[2] Alman gülle atma sporcusudur.

Yaşamı ve kariyeri

Garisch-Culmberger, 24 Ocak 1939'da Pillau'da doğdu. Atletizme başlamadan önce hentbol oynamış ve bazı farklı sektörlerde çalışmıştır. 1961 yılında kaydettiği 17,18 metre ile 17 metrenin üzerinde gülle atmayı başaran ilk Alman kadın oldu.[3]

Garisch-Culmberger, 1960 ve 1964 Yaz Olimpiyatları'nda Birleşik Almanya Takımı'nı, 1968 Yaz Olimpiyatları'nda ise Doğu Almanya'yı temsilen mücadele ederek, sırasıyla altıncılık, ikincilik ve beşincilik derecelerini elde etti. Avrupa Atletizm Şampiyonası'nda ise 1962'de gümüş madalya kazanmış ve 1969'da beşinci olmuştur.[4] Garisch-Culmberger, 1964'te 17,18 metre ile dünya salon rekoru kırdı ve 1961-1965 ile 1967'de ulusal düzeyde Doğu Almanya'da zaferler kazandı.[1]

Özel yaşamı ve ölümü

Garisch-Culmberger, 1966'da vatandaşı güreşçi Nils Boy ile evlendikten sonra 1968 Yaz Olimpiyatları'ndan itibaren Renate Boy adıyla yarışmalara katıldı.[1] 5 Ocak 2023'te hayata veda etti.
