Subartu

Mardin dolaylarında Subartu bölgesi

Subartu, (Sümerce "Subar", Asurice "Mat Subarri", Amarna yazıtlarında "Subari", Ugarit dilinde "Sbr.") Tunç Çağı dönemi kaynaklarında geçen Mezopotamya ve Dicle'nin yukarısında krallık ve ülkenin adıdır.

"Yukarı Dicle" olarak tâbir edilen bölge (Akadca: İna Su-bar-ri), "Subari Toprağı" anlamına gelmektedir. Subartu, Hurriler'in genel etki alanı içinde olabileceği düşünülmektedir.[1] Antik Subartu'yu Gürcüler,[2] Kürtler[3] ve Ermeniler[2] de dahil olmak üzere bölgede bulunan bir veya daha fazla modern kültürle ilişkilendiren çeşitli alternatif teoriler vardır.

Akad kralı Sargon, Simurrum şehrine sefer düzenlediğinde Subartular'ı çoktan yenilgiye uğrattığı, Naram-Sin'in Akad topraklarını Subatu'dan Amanos Dağlarına kadar genişlettiği, İsin kralı İşbi-Erra'nın Subartu ve Elamlara karşısında aldığı zaferlerden övünmesi gibi antik dönem kayıtlarında Subartular'dan bahsedilmektedir.[4]

Mısır'da bulunan MÖ 14'üncü yüzyıldan kalma ve Akad çivi yazısı ile yazılmış belgelerde bir bölgenin adı olarak "Subari" ismi geçmektedir. Sümer, Akat ve Asur belgelerinde de Subariler'den söz edilmektedir. Aynı kaynaklar, Subartu bölgesinde yaşayan akraba halklar arasında "Guti" ve "Lullubi" halklarından da söz etmektedir.[5]
