Waldemar Hoven (10 Şubat 1903 – 2 Haziran 1948) Bir Nazi ve Buchenwald toplama kampında bir doktordu.[1]

Yaşamı

Hoven, Almanya'nın Baden kentinde Freiburg'da doğdu. 1919-1933 yılları arasında Danimarka, İsveç, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri ve Fransa'yı ziyaret etti ve 1933'te lise eğitimini tamamladığı Freiburg'a döndü. Daha sonra Freiburg ve Münih Üniversitelerine girdi. 1934'te SS'e katıldı. 1939'da tıbbi çalışmalarını tamamladı ve SS'de doktor oldu. Hoven, Waffen SS'de Hauptsturmführer (yüzbaşı) rütbesine yükseldi.[2]

Hoven, tifüs ve fenol içeren serumlar ile ilgili tıbbi deneylerin uygulanmasında yer aldı ve bu da birçok mahkûmun ölümüne yol açtı. Ayrıca, işe yaramaz olduğu düşünülen Yahudilerin yanı sıra engelli insanların öldürüldüğü Nazi ötanazi programlarına da katıldı.[3]

1943'te Naziler tarafından tutuklandı, Ilse Koch aleyhine açılan bir soruşturmada potansiyel tanık olan bir SS subayına ölümcül bir fenol enjeksiyonu yapmakla suçlandı. Hoven'in bir ilişkisi olduğu söylentileri vardı.[4] Nazilerin doktor eksikliği nedeniyle Mart 1945'te serbest bırakılmasına rağmen mahkûm edildi ve ölüm cezasına çarptırıldı.

Yargılanması

Hoven, II. Dünya Savaşı'nın sonunda Müttefikler tarafından tutuklandı ve Nürnberg Mahkemelerinden biri olan Doktorlar davası'nda sanık olarak yargılandı. Savaş suçlarından, insanlığa karşı suçlardan ve bir suç örgütü üyeliğinden suçlu bulundu.[2] Ölüm cezasına çarptırıldı ve 2 Haziran 1948'de Bavyera'daki Landsberg hapishanesinde asılarak idam edildi.
