Afro-Eurasia dengan kepulauan sekitarnya.

Afro-Eurasia,[3] atau disingkat Afrasia[4] atau Eurafrasia,[4] merupakan sebutan yang digunakan untuk menggambarkan Eurasia dan Afrika sebagai satu benua. Wilayah luas yang tersusun ini berisi 85% jumlah penduduk dunia (sekitar 5.7 miliar penduduk).[5]

Secara normal, terbagi di Terusan Suez hingga Eurasia dan Afrika, bekas di mana dapat dibagi lagi menjadi Eropa dan Asia. Dapat dibagi secara altenatif menjadi Eurasia-Afrika Utara dan Subsahara untuk alasan budaya dan sejarah.[6]

Daratan Afro-Eurasia (tidak termasuk kepulauan seperti Britania, Irlandia, Jepang dan Madagaskar) telah disebut sebagai Pulau Dunia (Sebutan itu mungkin diciptakan oleh Sir Halford John Mackinder dalam The Geographical Pivot of History[7]).

Dunia Lama merujuk kepada Afrika, Asia, Eropa, dan kepulauan sekitarnya sebagai luas wilayah yang terpisah.

Secara geologi, Afro-Eurasia diperkirakan akan menjadi superbenua ketika Afrika bertabrakan dengan Eropa. Ini diperkirakan terjadi 600.000 tahun yang akan datang, ketika ujung selatan Spanyol bergabung dengan Afrika. Saat ini terjadi, Laut Mediterania akan terisolasi dari Samudra Atlantik. Afrika diperkirakan bertabrakan dengan Eropa seluruhnya 50 juta tahun yang akan datang, menutup Mediterania, dan membuat jaringan pegunungan masa depan yang baru (dengan tambahan Alpen).[8]
