Arial, kadang dipasarkan atau ditampilkan dalam berbagai perangkat lunak sebagai Arial MT, adalah sebuah rupa huruf tanpa kait. Rupa huruf dari keluarga Arial dipaketkan bersama Microsoft Windows, beberapa aplikasi perangkat lunak Microsoft lainnya,[1] Apple Mac OS X[2] dan bermacam pencetak komputer PostScript 3.[3] Rupa huruf ini dirancang tahun 1982 oleh tim beranggotakan 10 orang yang dipimpin Robin Nicholas dan Patricia Saunders untuk Monotype Typography.
Variasi keluarga rupa huruf Arial
- Rupa huruf Arial terdiri dari berbagai gaya, yaitu Regular, Italic, Medium, Medium Italic, Bold, Bold Italic, Black, Black Italic, Extra Bold, Extra Bold Italic, Light, Light Italic, Narrow, Narrow Italic, Narrow Bold, Narrow Bold Italic, Condensed, Light Condensed, Bold Condensed, dan Extra Bold Condensed.
- Keluarga huruf Arial lebar memiliki beberapa gaya pula, yaitu Rounded (Light, Regular, Bold, Extra Bold); Monospaced (Regular, Oblique, Bold, Bold Oblique). Banyak di antaranya dikeluarkan dalam berbagai konfigurasi rupa huruf dengan beragam tingkatan dukungan bahasa.
- Rupa huruf Arial yang sering digunakan dan dipaketkan adalah Arial Regular, Italic, Bold, Bold Italic, disertai gaya sejenis untuk Arial Narrow, ditambah Arial Black dan Black Italic. Belakangan ini, Arial Rounded juga dimasukkan dalam paket tersebut.
