Blotted Science adalah band Intrumentantal Technical Death Metal. Gitaris Ron Jarzomerk (Watchtower, Spastic Ink), bassis Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse) drummer Hannes Grossmann (Solo, ex-Obscura, ex-Necrophagist. Band ini dahulunya bernama Machinations of Dementia, tetapi sejak kepergian Chris Adler berganti nama menjadi Blotted Science.
Pada tahun 2005 Ron Jarzombek menghubungi Chris Adler (Lamb of God) dan Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse) untuk membuat suatu proyek band Intrumental Progressive Death Metal. Namun Chris Adler mengundurkan diri karena kesibukan dia dengan Lamb of God yang saat itu akan menjalani tur album. Namun, Chris Adler masih menyempatkan diri untuk berkolaborasi dengan Ron Jarzombek pada lagu "The Near Dominance of 4 Against 5" (Drum Notation vol 3, Magna Carta Records)
Chris Adler digantikan oleh Derek Roddy (Hate Eternal, Nile) namun tidak lama kemudian Derek Roddy keluar dari band dan digantikan oleh Charlie Zeleny. Dan tidak lama kemudian Blotted Science merilis debut album mereka pada musim gugur 2007 bernama The Machinations of Dementia.
Pada September 2010 mengumumkan rencana membuat mini album (EP) yang berisi 7 lagu dan berdurasi 24 menit yang akan dirilis pada tahun 2011. Dia juga mengumumkan bahwa Charlie Zeleny (drum) digantikan oleh Hannes Grossmann. Namun disaat Hannes bergabung dengan Blotted Science, Ron Jarzombek dan Hannes malah membuat band lain bernama Terrestrial Exiled, pada Mei 2011 merilis lagu Duodecimal Levorotation.
Pada 4 Oktober 2011 band ini akhirnya merilis mini album mereka berjudul The Animation of Entomology dibawah label Eclectic Electric
