Edith Wharton (lahir dengan nama Edith Newbold Jones, 24 Januari 1862-11 Agustus 1937) adalah seorang novelis dan juga penulis cerita pendek dari Amerika. Tulisannya banyak membahas mengenai kehidupan masyarakat kelas atas di New York, Amerika Serikat. Pada tahun 1921, salah satu karyanya yang berjudul The Age of Innocence dianugerahi Penghargaan Pulitzer di bidang Sastra.[1][2]

Kehidupan

Edith Wharton lahir dengan nama Edith Newbold Jones di New York, Amerika Serikat pada tanggal 4 Januari 1862. Keluarganya merupakan salah satu keluarga dari masyarakat kelas atas. Pada tahun 1885, ia menikahi Edward Wharton, salah satu bankir kaya dari New York. Namun mereka kemudian bercerai pada tahun 1913.[1]
