† Sloanea olmediaefolia telah dideskripsikan dari banyak fosil daun yang dikumpulkan dari strata Oligosen bawah dari tahun 1857 hingga 1889 di Santa Giustina dan Sassello di Liguria Tengah, Italia. [2] Fosil daun spesies ini juga telah dikumpulkan dari lapisan benua ( fluvial dan limnik ) Formasi Csatka dekat Oroszlány ( Hungaria barat, Transdanubia timur laut); lapisan ini berasal dari tahap regional Oligosen Kiscellian yang berusia 34 juta tahun. [3]
