Han Yu (Hanzi Tradisional: 韓愈; Hanzi Sederhana: 韩愈; Pinyin: Hán Yù; Wade-Giles: Han Yü) (768–824), lahir di Nanyang, Henan, China, adalah seorang pakar dalam bidang Neo-Konfusianisme serta seorang pembuat esay dan penyair dari zaman dinasti Tang. Ia dianggap sebagai "berbanding dengan Dante, Shakespeare atau Goethe" karena pengaruhnya terhadap tradisi sastra Tionghoa.[1] Ia dikenal karena otoritas pusatnya yang kuat dalam politik dan ortodoksi dalam ranah kebudayaan. Ia juga dianggap sebagai salah satu penulis prosa paling handal di China, yang kedua hanya dengan Sima Qian, dan pertama menjadi salah satu dari "Delapan Master Prosa besar dari zaman Tang dan Song" dalam sebuah daftar yang disusun oleh sarjana Dinasti Ming, Mao Kun (茅坤).[2]
